New PSP Slim 3.60 ~ Confused 7 Months, 4 Weeks ago

Greetings Everyone,¶Let me first apologize for asking a question probably asked a milion times before. But I am really rather confused and I don't want to take any risks with this kind of equipment. :D¶Let me schets the situation first. Yesterday I bought a PSP Slim(firmware 3.60(at least that is what it says Settins->System Settings->System Information)) and a friend of mind(she has a PSP 'fhat'(or 'phat')) kept saying that I should get custom firmware if I really wanted to use the PSP. And I love homebrew(to use and make, made a few programs for the DS myself) and I believe the PSP is 'regio locked' and I really hate that(I love to play Japanese games). That is why I decided to look into installing custom firmware on my PSP.¶That is why I tried going into the 'configuration/diagnoses' menu, but this failed. I really don't know how to get there either, but I just tried turning the PSP off by holding de 'power-button' to the top and only releasing it when it 'powered off' and after that booting the PSP(by moving the 'power-button' up and releasing it immediately) while holding the 'Right shoulder'-button, which didn't work, so I tried the 'Left shoulder'-button, but that didn't work either. I keep the shoulder button pressed, but it just shows the normal menu. I didn't change any batteries or anything, I just tried those things out of the box.¶As that didn't work I downloaded the 'Pandora___Universal_Downgrader_Easy_Installer.rar', but didn't do anything with it yet, as I am going to buy a MS Pro Duo today(2 gig) and to be honest I am rather afraid to do anything really experimental with it:p(usually when I experiment blue light comes from the back of the computer and it stops working:p). ¶That is why I wanted to ask the question(probably answered a milion times before): How do I install custom firmware on my PSP slim/lite 3.60? As for the tools I have in my possesion: A computer(XP), a MS Pro Duo(2 Gig) and a USB 2.0 connector for the PSPComputer connection and if I ask nicely I can probably get the 'phat'-battery from my friend.(extra info: I live in the Netherlands, Europe...so I don't know if it matters, but I probably have a PAL version or something)¶My apologies again for asking such a question, but I really hope someone can help me. And...thanks in advance:D

To get custm firmware you also need a pandora battery, dont worry about the specifics, but this is used in conjunction with the Pandora___Universal_Downgrader_Easy_Installer.rar which will be put onto the memory stick, if the girl you know has custom firmware she could convert you battery to pandora pretty easily please read thid guide

My apologies for asking, but I read that thread a couple of times, but as far as I can read, it only mentions buying the pandora or using the phat, but I can't really find the part where it mentions what to do with the phat?(probably misread though, if I did please correct me)

thank you, I will try that...then...I have one last question...is it only possible to get to the 'diagnose/configuration'-menu with a pandora battery? Because I would be really happen even if the only thing I could change is I make it 'region free'.:$

Once you have custom firmware, you can access all the settings you require via the recovery menu, the psp plays all region games as far as Im aware, I may be wrong though
