Change Your Custom Firmware Name 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago

This tutorial shows how you can change you custom firmware name (Instead of "3.80 m33-5"or"3.90 m33-2" it will be "3.80BREW-5"or"3.90BREW-2" or to whatever name you prefer) Credit goes to gameking21. Tools to be use are PRX Compressor 0.41 and Hex Workshop 4.23. Please don't ask for Links...
1. Connect psp
2. Go to Flash0:kd
3. Select and copy vshctrl.prx (or vshctrl_02g.prx) to desktop or where ever you can access it.
4. Open PRX Compressor v0.41
5. Click on "Quick Decompress" (bottom Right big Grey button)
6. Select the vshctrl.prx you saved
7. Then click okay
8. Select a location to save the decompressed vshctrl.prx too.
9. Open up Hex Workshop or the hex program you are using
10. Click file open select the decompressed vshctrl.prx
11. (for Hex Workshop right click and select Goto) Goto,offset: 00018172. (make sure Decimal(Dec) and beginning of file is selected.)
(for Hex Workshop right click and select Goto) Goto,offset: 000046DC. (3.90m33-2 slim)
12. Go to the far right and you should see
(depending on what version you have)
13. Highlight the value you want to change and type the new one in
14. After your done it should look like ex. "3...8.0.B.R.E.W." Depending on what you want it to say
15. Now save
16. Select the saved file and replace the one in the Flash0:kd
14. Your done
Tested on 3.80 and 3.90 cfw. This procedure require flashing so TAKE CARE! THIS MAY RESULT IN A SEMI OR FULL BRICK PSP!
